The role
As a Data Analyst for our private sector business XS2Meds, a pharmaceutical procurement organization focused on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), you will play a critical role in leveraging data to drive informed decision-making, optimize supply chain efficiency, and enhance access to essential medicines and other health commodities. This role is ideal for a junior data-driven professional passionate about using analytics to improve healthcare access in underserved markets.
Main Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Data collection & management: gather, clean, and structure data from multiple sources, including suppliers, procurement systems, health agencies, and market intelligence reports
- Market & pricing analysis: analyse pharmaceutical pricing trends, supplier reliability, and procurement costs to support cost-effective purchasing strategies
- Supply chain optimization: use data insights to forecast demand, assess stock levels, and improve distribution efficiency
- Operational reporting: develop dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs), procurement metrics, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Risk assessment: identify risks in the supply chain, such as stockouts, price volatility, and supplier reliability issues, and recommend data-driven mitigation strategies
- Stakeholder communication: present findings to internal teams, funders, and partner organizations to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
Market Data:
- Brief overall sector analysis (public v private procurement, key procurement agencies of the government, regulatory environment, understanding of national health insurance schemes)
- Key distributors in country (including private sector, FBOs, NGOs, Public Sector) and information on their size and reach; who might be our best clients?
- Competitor data – who are our major competitors and what do we know about them in the market?
- Prevalence of major health/ therapeutic areas and commentary (or data, if available) on access (where are the gaps/ challenges)
- Any major health initiatives/ programs or investments in the country that is known (by the government, donors or our supplier partners) that we could align/ integrate with or engage when in country
Market-Product Data:
- Which are the major (large-scale, fast-moving) products/SKU (stock keeping unit) in each priority country (and at what prices, as per next section)
- Which products are registered in the country? Are there any workarounds to bring new products into the country?
Pricing Data:
- Collect current average import, distributor & retail prices for specific supplier products
- Collect current average import prices for competitor SKU
- Current sales volumes / demand for specific SKU
- National Health Insurance scheme reimbursement prices, where applicable
Visibility Data:
- Collect & import distribution data (locations, prices, quantities, etc.) from our clients and import into a PBI report for monthly sharing with suppliers
- Collect availability and lead times for XS2Meds products from our suppliers on a regular basis to know what we can offer to our partners
- Collect proof of delivery data for shipments to our clients
Specific responsibilities
- Works closely with XS2Meds leadership to develop specific strategies regarding data, data optimization and reporting for XS2Meds
- Ensure XS2Meds impact measurement is state of the art
- Research global sustainability developments and adapt them to the XS2Meds organizational framework
- Co-designs the data infrastructure needed to become a data company
- Co-develops commercial data value propositions for stakeholders
- Participates actively in XS2Meds specific business development efforts
- Perform data preparation for KPI tracking Analyse and validate this data for accuracy and completeness
- Reporting compliance: stay informed about regulatory requirements in the ESG space, to ensure our data collection and reporting processes follow the latest guidelines
Qualifications
- Higher education in an analytical study preferable in the field of supply chain management, innovation, information management, business administration, or related field
- Analytical knowledge (operations research, mathematical optimization modelling)
- Able to create meaningful management information out of raw data
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R
- Experience with data visualization platforms (eg, Power BI, Tableau)
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chains, procurement processes, and regulatory requirements in LMICs is a plus
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Genuine interest and enthusiasm for sustainability
- Native / near native English proficiency
